3.2 Compassionate Grounding

A foundational mindfulness practice is learning to be aware of how the body feels. Because we spend so much time in our own heads, we tend to get disconnected from what the body is actually experiencing. Dropping down from the thinking mind to the feeling, sensing, present-moment experiences of the body can be like pushing a “reset” button; it can help us break out of unhelpful rumination and self-criticism and see what’s going on with new eyes.

For this guided exercise, find a place where you can sit comfortably, with both feet on the floor.
